Cassel Competition

Quimby Regional Competition for Young Organists

The Harrisburg Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) sponsors a local chapter competition every two years (in odd numbered). This competition was established locally and was named for chapter member Violette Cassel. This local competition now follows the rules of the national AGO Quimby Competition - regional competitions for young organists (RCYO).

The next competition will be held in early 2025. For information on applying visit the national website: RCYO.

The official rules governing this competition, including the registration form, are published in the June issue of THE AMERICAN ORGANIST. Competitors may compete in any chapter level competition in the region of their home or school. Membership in the American Guild of Organists is not required.

The competition is open to anyone under the age of 24 as of August 1 in the year of the competition. Competitors can only compete in one competition and it must be in the AGO region in which they live or attend school. They are responsible for any travel or lodging expenses associated with the competition.

The application form must be submitted to the AGO Headquarters no later than January. Rules, Requirements and the Application for competitions can be found on the national website.
