Friday, December 6th, at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 7th, at 3:00 p.m.The Gettysburg Choral Society, Inc. will present Christmas concerts entitled “Sing We Noel.” These first two concerts will be held in the Church of the Abiding Presence on the campus of the United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg. The seminary is located at 61 Seminary Ridge in Gettysburg, PA. The thirty-voice chorus, under the direction of co-founder and artistic director John McKay, will celebrate the season with some of the most beloved Christmas selections. As always, the concerts are free and open to the public. Tax-deductible contributions will be received to help defray expenses.

Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Messiah Lutheran Church, Corner of Forster and Commonwealth Ave., Harrisburg presents the Hershey Handbell Ensemble in concert. Helen Anthony, Director of Music and Organist at Messiah will also perform with the Handbell Ensemble. Admission is $30.00 for adults; children and students with I.D. free. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 N. Third Street, Harrisburg presents Soprano Aine Hakamatsuka with accompanist Michael Hey – Aine Hakamatsuka is a New York-based soprano who has been described by the Observer as a “pearly soprano” and by The New York Times as having “loads of personality.” Michael Hey is described as “scintillating” and “tremendously virtuosic” (The Straits Times, Singapore). Hey has established himself as a reputable concert organist in the U.S. and abroad. A Happy Hour Concert – Wine and snacks 5:45 – 6:45.
Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. (February 2 is the correct date, not 2-9 as listed on the brochure.) Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 N. Third Street, Harrisburg presents organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez – Ramírez enjoys a busy global performing schedule that takes him to major music festivals, churches and cathedrals, concert halls (from Russia to major venues throughout Europe and the U.S.), universities, and, as a juror, to international competitions. In December 2017, Raúl Prieto Ramírez was appointed the San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society. A reception follows the concert.
Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 N. Third Street, Harrisburg presents flutist Jocelyn Goranson and pianist Daniel Glessner in recital. Jocelyn Goranson is Instructor of Flute at Messiah University and a Contributing Faculty Flute Instructor and Faculty Wind Quintet member at Dickinson College. She has been featured as a concerto soloist with the New Mexico Symphony and other ensembles throughout the mid-Atlantic and Texas. Pianist Daniel Glessner has given solo performances throughout the region. An avid collaborator, he has accompanied numerous recitals at Penn State University and Messiah University and still accompanies many recitals at Messiah, in addition to other local performances. A Reception follows the concert.

Friday, May 16, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Arts on the Square presents the film The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Jason Roberts, organist, at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second Street, Harrisburg. The 1923 silent film classic tells the story of the beautiful Gypsy girl Esmeralda and the grotesque bellringer Quasimodo at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Roberts, organist at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in New York City, is one of the few organists today to master using all the theatrical sounds of a pipe organ to bring cinematic drama to life. This is almost a lost art in our day since new movies have a soundtrack. You may never have this chance again!
