It is the hiring organization’s responsibility to ask for specific information – education, experience, recent references, and to discuss these items with the chosen substitute. The hiring organization and the organist should agree on a reasonable fee before the service. The Harrisburg Chapter does not publish a fee schedule.

Organist: Annville United Methodist Church, Annville is accepting applications for an organist/pianist to support our weekly 9:00 am Sunday worship service (off the 4th Sunday of each month) and to accompany an adult choir and to attend Wednesday choir rehearsals. The organ is a three-manual Schantz pipe organ. The compensation is negotiable. Organist and Choir Director (Part Time) The Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace (Episcopal) in Gettysburg, PA seeks an Organist-Choir Director. This is a part-time salaried position with an expected average time commitment of 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to guide and continue to develop the music ministry of a vibrant parish with a rich history.
The responsibilities of the position include: serving as organist during a Sunday and other services; directing an adult choir in a weekly rehearsal and during Sunday services; and organizing music for special services. Candidates with an interest in expanding the musical offerings of the parish to the community are especially encouraged to apply.
The parish’s musical equipment includes a 3-manual Möller/Rodgers hybrid pipe/digital organ, a Steinway B piano, a recently refurbished set of handbells, and a set of choir chimes. Rehearsal spaces are equipped with additional pianos.
The requirements for the position are a bachelor’s degree in organ studies or piano with demonstrated experience as an organist, and training or demonstrated experience in choral conducting. Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate music degree or an American Guild of Organists certification of “Colleague” or higher. In addition, a familiarity with the liturgy and musical traditions of the Episcopal Church is highly desirable.

Organist and Choir Director –The Presbyterian Congregation of Middletown, 290 North Union St., Middletown, PA is seeking a part-time organist and choir director. Our vocal choir currently rehearses at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays but is open to rehearsing on a different night to accommodate our new director. The vocal choir occasionally collaborates with our bell choir or other instrumentalists as opportunities present themselves. We have traditional liturgical worship at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday, meeting in person in our sanctuary and simultaneously using Zoom to share the service with our homebound or absent members and friends. Director of Sacred Music – Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Lancaster, is seeking to fill the Director of Sacred Music position. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the music program as it relates to the celebration of parish liturgies for Sacred Heart Church. The Director of Sacred Music works closely with the pastor in liturgy, music and environment, and reports directly to the pastor. The Director must be accomplished in organ playing, choral direction, and voice.
POSITION ANALYSIS - This position requires a mature, professional, responsible, committed individual with excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, administrative, managerial and interpersonal skills. He/she must be a Catholic in good standing and have a working knowledge of Church teaching, Catholic sacramental theology, current liturgical norms and practices of the Church and Diocese. He/she should be accomplished in the following areas: organ, voice, choral direction. The candidate should have a deep understanding of the Church’s sacred music tradition. The candidate should be an active and visible member of the parish community.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS - Part-time, salary position. Funerals and Weddings are compensated separately (on average, 8-10 funerals and 4 weddings per year).

Director of Music: Grace United Methodist Church in Harrisburg seeks a Director of Music (12-15 hours per week). Praise Band Music Leader: Friedens Lutheran Church in Myerstown is seeking a keyboard artist with vocal skills and a passion for leading contemporary music with a praise band (guitar and drums). This is a salaried part-time position at $13,000 per year. with two weeks paid vacation. This position selects contemporary songs that complement the liturgical day (Revised Common Lectionary - RCL); resources are available to assist with this task. Director(s) of Music Ministry - Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, PA, is currently welcoming applicants for Director(s) of Music Ministry.
